Art Center
Jam Factory Art Center® is dedicated to establishing a contemporary art center in a former industrial building in the UNESCO heritage city of Lviv, Ukraine. The actual vision of the Art Center is to shape a platform for international professional collaboration, and the production of contemporary art and culture, for innovative and interdisciplinary programs, and for creative enterprises and education.
The Jam Factory combines various sectors – contemporary art, theatre, music, film and studio-based workshops, where each finds their own space and together creates an ensemble not yet seen in Lviv or in the region.
The building itself is a unique example of a factory built in the “fin de siecle” neo-gothic style. For passers-by it resembles more of a castle than what it originally was – a distillery factory. The factory was named after its founder “Kronik and Son” (1872). During the later Soviet period, the complex was turned into a factory producing jam and jarred goods. Hence, the name “Jam Factory” was coined by artists who began to use the buildings in 2009-2010. In 2015 the complex was purchased by The “Harald Binder Cultural Enterprises” (HBCE) with the aim of creating a multidisciplinary art center.
